Singapore Telecommunications (Singtel) has expanded the workforce of its Philippine technology venture more than eightfold to over 1,200 employees, deepening its bet on the country’s digital talent pool.
NCS Philippines, a joint venture between Singtel’s technology arm NCS and Globe Telecom’s Yondu with an enterprise value of $30 million, grew from an initial team of 150.
The unit builds local capabilities in artificial intelligence, cloud computing, cybersecurity, data analytics, and software engineering.
The expansion, which the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) said strengthens the Philippines’ position as a global tech services hub, was highlighted during a meeting between President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and business leaders in Singapore.
Trade Secretary Cristina Roque said the expansion showed sustained investor confidence, driven by regulatory reforms such as the CREATE MORE Act, the Strategic Investment Priority Plan, and the Konektadong Pinoy Act.
“We highly value Singtel’s continued trust and investment in the Philippines. The growth of NCS Philippines from a boutique team to a 1,200-strong tech workforce is a prime example of how international partnerships can create high-value, quality jobs for our IT professionals. The DTI remains fully committed to supporting Singtel and its partners as they drive digital transformation and technological innovation in the country,” Roque said.—Bilyonaryo.com
