Trilyonaryo Enrique “Ricky” Razon Jr. has soared into the top three of Bilyonaryo’s Crazy Rich ASEANs list, trailing only Vietnam’s Pham Nhat Vuong and Singapore’s Jason Chang.
Razon delivered the region’s biggest jump in June, vaulting three places after his fortune surged from $15.9 billion to $20.1 billion, a gain of $4.2 billion or 26.4 percent. The rally also made him the richest Filipino in history, eclipsing the late Henry Sy Sr.’s $20 billion peak set in 2018.
The June reshuffle came as billionaire fortunes diverged across Southeast Asia.
Vuong strengthened his grip on the No. 1 spot, with his fortune rising to $34 billion from $33.2 billion. Singapore semiconductor tycoon Jason Chang extended his lead at No. 2, adding another $1.7 billion after last month’s blockbuster $6.7 billion gain that catapulted him from eighth to second.
Razon’s rise pushed Thailand’s Sarath Ratanavadi down one place to fourth despite his wealth increasing to $16.8 billion. Indonesia’s coal king Low Tuck Kwong climbed back to fifth after recovering to $16.1 billion, while Thailand’s Dhanin Chearavanont slipped to sixth.
Indonesia still accounted for three of the region’s 10 richest fortunes, but its representatives continued to reshuffle. Banking tycoon R. Budi Hartono held seventh place while Prajogo Pangestu, once Southeast Asia’s second-richest billionaire, slid further to eighth as his fortune declined to $13.2 billion.
Malaysia’s Robert Kuok remained ninth, while Thai beverage and property magnate Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi completed the top 10.
Singapore remained Southeast Asia’s largest billionaire hub with 54 billionaires worth $153 billion, followed by Indonesia with 30 billionaires worth $133.7 billion. Across the six major ASEAN economies tracked by Forbes, there were 152 billionaires worth a combined $545.4 billion.
