Power utility giant Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) said a questioned ₱94,355.21 electricity bill issued to singer Cacai Mitra reflected her typical seasonal consumption pattern rather than an unusual spike in usage.
The statement came after Mitra raised concerns on social media over her residential power charges for a single billing cycle.
Meralco VP and Head of Corporate Affairs Joe Zaldarriaga said they have contacted Mitra to explain the details of her bill and address her concerns.
“Ms. Cacai’s account is classified as a high-load service and there was no unusual surge in her consumption, which is also reflected in the historical chart in her bill,” Zaldarriaga said.
“The actual consumption remains within the normal range of her previous bills, both when compared with the preceding months and with the same period last year,” he said, adding that they have explained the billing particulars to Mitra and offered to conduct a technical survey of her property for further clarity.
“We remain in close coordination with the customer and are committed to addressing any other questions she may have regarding her account,” he added.
