After a drama-filled session at the Senate on Monday (May 20), senators and their spouses had the chance to unwind at a dinner hosted by First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos.
Present at the dinner held at the First Family’s private residence inside the Malacañang complex Tuesday (May 21) were newly elected Senate President Francis Escudero and his wife, style icon Heart Evangelista; bilyonaryo couple Senator Cynthia and former Senator Manny Villar, and their son, Mark Villar.
Senator Juan Miguel Zubiri, who resigned as Senate president after 15 of his colleagues expressed support for Escudero’s leadership, skipped the meeting, as well as Senators Nancy Binay, Sonny Angara and Joel Villanueva.
However, Senator Loren Legarda, who did not sign the resolution supporting Escudero as Senate president, opted to attend the dinner.
Kathryna Yu-Pimentel, the wife of Senate Minority Leader Aquilino Pimentel III, also joined the spouses of the other lawmakers at the dinner even if her husband did not participate in the voting for a new Senate president.
