A marketing executive is demanding an apology from marketer Amor Maclang for supposedly “gaslighting” attendees of the Digital Pilipinas Festival who complained about the lackluster events throughout the week-long conference.

Christopher Star of the Hong Kong-based firm Green Collective started the hashtag #NoAmorNoMore as he deplored the false claims of the GeiserMaclang ad agency head about their event.

Amor Maclang denies allegations on Digital Pilipinas, asserts record-breaking tech extravaganza

“As an event organizer myself, I find it helpful to know the ugly truth of participants experience than to hear beautiful lies of fake supporters. Glad Bilyonaryo shed light to your story and I hope more media outlets pick it up,” Star wrote in a Facebook post. “It has caught my attention the recent post of Digital Pilipinas claiming 2,500 foot traffic to their event which based on personal accounts of attendees and actual event photos seem like a stretch of imagination.”

He said Maclang has refused to apologize over the event’s shortcomings and even allegedly dismissed the complaint of a participant who paid P17,500 for a conference experience supposedly “compressed” in two days instead of five.

“The lack of remorse & accountability of the organizers only show that there are no plans for them to improve the quality of their event. Sponsors & speakers should take a stance and not engage with such organizations moving forward or their own reputation is at risk,” Star added.

He expressed disappointment about Maclang’s alleged avoidance of criticism, saying he has been blocked from accessing the marketing executive’s Facebook page, as well as that of Digital Pilipinas and Digital Pilipinas Festival.

“Retract your statement and take responsibility as you should for putting shame to the honor of our country for self-gain and self-promotion,” Star said.
