The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) is set to release over P3.47 billion in Christmas cash gifts to old-age and disability pensioners starting December 6.
GSIS president and general manager Wick Veloso announced that more than 300,000 qualified pensioners will receive an amount equivalent to one month of their pension, up to a maximum of P10,000.
Veloso assured pensioners that the cash gift would be credited to their GSIS eCard, enabling them to plan their withdrawals and decide on their purchases upon receiving the funds.
Old-age and disability pensioners currently receiving their regular monthly pensions and still alive as of November 30, 2023, qualify for the Christmas cash gift.
“For those whose pensions are suspended as of December 31, 2023, due to non-compliance with the Annual Pensioners Information Revalidation (APIR), we will still provide your cash gift after completing the APIR process,” Veloso said.
Survivorship pensioners, dependent pensioners, pensioners under RA 7699 (Portability Law), and those receiving pro-rata pension are not eligible for the Christmas cash gift.
Additionally, new pensioners from 2019 to 2023 who availed of immediate pension and the 18-month cash payment under Republic Act 8291 are not entitled to the cash gift until five years after their retirement date.
Retirees who opted for a five-year lump sum and plan to resume their regular monthly pension after December 31, 2023, are also excluded from the benefit.
Furthermore, GSIS members who were separated from government service from 2006 to 2023 before reaching 60 years old and commenced receiving their regular monthly pension between 2019 and 2023 are not qualified. They will only become eligible for the cash gift five years after consistently receiving their pension.”
