PAL and SIA elevate travel options with strategic codeshare partnership

Philippine Airlines (PAL) has inked a new codeshare partnership with Singapore Airlines (SIA) to broaden flight options for travelers between the Philippines and Singapore, as well as for those connecting to various domestic and international destinations through their respective hubs.

Capt. Stanley K. Ng, PAL’s president and COO, emphasized PAL’s commitment to bolstering its presence in Singapore, a key destination served for 58 years.

Ng emphasized PAL’s anticipation of enhanced connectivity to numerous European cities, catering to the Filipino diaspora and a growing influx of tourists and business travelers.

The codeshare arrangement is set to commence in the fourth quarter on SIA’s and PAL’s flights between Singapore and Manila, pending regulatory approvals. Additionally, SIA will extend codeshare services on PAL’s flights from Manila to 27 destinations within the Philippines, while PAL reciprocates by codesharing on SIA’s flights to six European destinations – Copenhagen, Frankfurt, Milan, Paris, Rome, and Zurich.

The codeshare services to Copenhagen and Milan mark a historic milestone as the first-ever air links to the Danish capital and Italian commercial hub by a Philippine carrier.

PAL, through codeshare services, is making a return to Frankfurt, Paris, Rome, and Zurich – destinations served by the Philippine flag carrier in the 1980s and 1990s.

Both airlines are exploring opportunities to expand the codeshare agreement to encompass SIA’s flights to additional points in Europe, as well as destinations in Australia, India, New Zealand, and South Africa.
