AI naku! Complaints mount vs BPI’s high tech app

The Bank of the Philippines (BPI) appears to have rushed the rollout of its new app, with several clients complaining about bugs and inability to access their accounts.

Veteran broadcaster Pia Hontiveros took to X (formerly Twitter) her dismay about the new app of the Ayala-led lender.

The CNN Philippines news anchor said she’s exhausted with her multiple attempts to use the new BPI app, which was rolled out in October.

“Been patient long enough. What will it take to be able to use this new @TalktoBPI online app. Downloaded it more than a month ago as instructed & for some reason, i cant use it,” Hontiveros said in a tweet.

“Hotline’s ‘Pasensiya na po, Ma’am’ doesn’t cut it. Why change the old app when it worked fine,” she added.

Fellow BPI depositors echoed her frustrations, including TV5 anchor Gretchen Ho.

BPI offered an apology and vowed to improve services, but it’s unclear if Hontiveros finally got into her online account.

One of the highlights of the new app is the “artificial intelligence insights” which are supposedly aimed at helping depositors make better banking decisions.
