President Bongbong Marcos said the visa upon arrival arrangement for select Asian countries will be extended soon.
Marcos made the promise to Indian Ambassador to the Philippine Shambhu Kumaran during their meeting in Malacañang last week.
Indian nationals are among the current beneficiaries of the so-called e-visas alongside tourists from China, Japan, and South Korea.
“We will find a way to do it,” Marcos said when the Indian envoy asked for an extension of the e-visa service.
“It won’t be just India, we are doing it with…several other countries as well to keep it,” he added.
The Philippine government wants to attract more foreign tourists to prop up economic growth.
Some 4 million foreign tourists have traveled to the Philippines since the start of 2023, the Department of Tourism said.
