San Miguel Corp. led by ultra bilyonaryo Ramon S. Ang headlines the eight Filipino companies recognized among the world’s top employers.
According to Forbes’ Best Employers 2023 list, San Miguel, with 50,433 employees, secures the 43rd spot. San Miguel is one of only five Asian companies to make it into the top 50.
South Korea’s Samsung Electronics (270,372 employees) claims the title of the world’s best employer, beating Western giants like Microsoft (221,000 employees), Alphabet (190,234 employees), Apple (164,000), Ferrari (4,919), and IBM (288,300 employees).
The second-best Filipino employer is Security Bank, led by St. Luke’s Medical Center chairman Frederick Dy, ranking 54th with 7,338 employees.
Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co., belonging to the Ty family, follows at 162nd place with 10,000 employees.
Ayala Corp. (47,747 employees), led by Jaime Augusto Zobel De Ayala, secures the 186th spot with while Andrew Tan’s Alliance Global Group (32,955 employees) comes in at 283rd place.
Land Bank of the Philippines (10,000 employees) led by Lynette V. Ortiz is the only government entity on the list with a ranking of No. 304.
Ultra bilyonayro Lucio Tan’s LT Group (14,290 employees) ranked No. 361, seventh best among Pinoy firms on the list.
SM Investments of the Sy family takes the 420th spot with the highest number of employees among Filipino companies, boasting 140,000.
Forbes, in collaboration with market research firm Statista, surveyed over 170,000 employees globally. Participants evaluated their employers on factors like talent development, remote work options, parental leave, diversity, work-life balance, and satisfaction with products or services.
The responses were then scored to determine the top 700 companies across 43 countries, adjusting for country size and qualifying companies.
