The National Grid Corp. of the Philippines (NGCP), responsible for grid and transmission operations, is actively investigating the root cause of a recent grid disturbance.
This incident resulted in the automatic load shedding in the franchise area of the Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) and several other provinces.
“We will release information as soon as it becomes available,” NGCP said.
On October 1, at 6:45 PM, NGCP detected a grid disturbance that impacted the San Jose-Nagsaag 500kV transmission line 2, as well as multiple power plants across Luzon, resulting in automatic load dropping.
NGCP successfully restored power to all affected areas by 7:33 PM. These areas include various provinces in Luzon, such as Metro Manila, Cagayan, Kalinga, Apayao, Laguna, Quezon, Batangas, and Camarines Norte.
