Pay now? Surely never! UnionBank warns vs new app scam

The Union Bank of the Philippines has warned against a new scam targeting users of its app.

The Aboitiz-owned lender issued a public advisory against unexpected requests for payment, which are sent to clients via text message or a request through the UnionBank app.

Clicking “pay now” would mean allowing the amount to be deducted from the user’s account and transferred to the sender.

Union Bank said payment requests from unknown individuals should be ignored or reported instead to its hotline, 8841-8600.

Alternatively, clients can send an email about their experience to customer.service@unionbankph.com.
