Manila Water, led by ultra bilyonaryo Enrique K. Razon Jr., remains firmly on track to achieve its sustainability targets as it continues to uphold its commitment to providing essential facilities and services that cater to the diverse needs of its communities and stakeholders.
Manila Water said it has been able to achieve its initial short-term environmental, social, and governance (ESG) targets as a result of its commitment to sustainability.
“For 26 years, we have been weaving sustainability principles and practices into our strategies and management systems,”Manila Water sustainability head Sarah Bergado said.
Through a focused ESG lens, Bergado said Manila Water hopes to boost long-term financial viability, address risks, and seize opportunities.
Building upon ESG achievements, the company is expanding its sustainability efforts with a focus on resource efficiency, watershed protection, water quality, and occupational health and safety.
Manila Water has started intensifying its water security and climate change mitigation efforts through the Pasibol: Puno ng Pag-asa program.
Manila Water’s commitment to water security and climate change mitigation is exemplified by the “Pasibol: Puno ng Pag-asa” program, which seeks to plant and nurture 580,000 trees and reforest 1,000 hectares by 2025.
The company is also driving sustainability by transitioning to eco-friendly transportation, having integrated already four electric vehicles into its fleet.
In addition to these efforts, Manila Water is making notable strides in harnessing renewable energy resources for its operations, marking a significant progress toward a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
“We know that we can only grow, fulfill our purpose, and aspire to be a global Filipino water company if we care for the communities we serve, the environment, and our partnerships,” Bergado said.
