President Bongbong Marcos had a thrilling time during his recent trip to the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, highlighted by his visit to the ultra exclusive Ferrari garage.
A Babbler said Marcos, along with his cousin Speaker Martin Romualdez, was reportedly granted this rare privilege courtesy of his long-time family friend, the Singapore-based Malaysian billionaire Ong Beng Seng.
Babbler said Marcos and Ong’s camaraderie dates back to his early years in Malacanang during his father’s tenure.
Ong is renowned for his pivotal role in bringing the F1 race to Singapore in 2008, with his company Singapore GP holding the rights to host the event until 2028.
Ong also runs the Hotel Properties Limited (HPL), which owns a string of high-end hotels and resorts in locations around Asia and the Pacific, including Four Seasons in Singapore.
His wife, retailer and entrepreneur Christina, manages Como Hotels & Resorts, the flourishing Club 21 retail empire, and the prestigious handbag brand, Mulberry.
The 77-year old tycoon was recently embroiled in a corruption probe involving a transport official in Singapore. Both he and the government official were arrested two months ago, but the two were immediately released on bail.
