Aboitiz-Scatec JV,  NIA join forces for Alimit multipurpose dam initiative

The National Irrigation Administration (NIA) has inked a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SN Aboitiz Power (SNAP) to conduct a feasibility study for the Alimit Multipurpose Dam Project.

SNAP, a joint venture between Scatec of Norway and AboitizPower, specializes in large hydropower facilities in Luzon.

The MOU signing signifies a collaborative effort between NIA and SNAP to explore the feasibility of establishing the Alimit Multipurpose Dam Project. This project is envisaged to serve multiple purposes, including irrigation, flood mitigation in the Province of Cagayan, and the generation of additional hydropower for the Luzon Grid.

This venture promises substantial benefits for agriculture, aquaculture, tourism, and broader industrial growth.

NIA and SNAP have a longstanding partnership in the operation of the country’s largest multipurpose dam, the Magat Dam located in Isabela. This latest initiative underscores their commitment to sustainable development and infrastructure projects aimed at bolstering both the regional economy and environmental stewardship.
