Customers of Puregold Price Club Inc., a retail chain owned by bilyonaryo Lucio Co, have come forward with troubling accounts of discrepancies in their shopping transactions.
They have reported instances of overcharging and mismatched transaction records, leading to concerns about the accuracy and transparency of their grocery bills.
One such account comes from a vlogger known as Team RomyAne, who experienced these issues at Puregold when her mom purchased tissue paper priced at over P100, but the receipt reflected a higher amount. The cashier explained that the amount on the receipt was updated, which the vlogger found misleading, as it could misinform customers relying on the shelf prices.
In another incident involving liquor and snacks for an outing, Team RomyAne and her friends were surprised to find a receipt showing purchases of over P1,000 and dog food amounting to P600, items they had not bought.
Another customer complained of being charged P2,412 for items they hadn’t purchased and raised an immediate complaint. This customer reported similar incidents involving their mother and acquaintances.
Adding to the growing list of complainants, netizen Romeo Castillo shared that he and his wife noticed a mysterious charge of P539 on their receipt for an item that they did not purchase. When they returned to the store to complain, the staff explained that it was a code error.
These concerned shoppers are now calling upon fellow consumers to exercise vigilance when reviewing their purchase receipts, emphasizing the importance of promptly reporting any discrepancies. Failing to do so, they argue, could result in unnecessary financial losses for hardworking individuals.
