The Department of Transportation (DOTr) under Secretary Jaime Bautista is taking its time in the bidding process for the contract to operate, maintain, and redevelop the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA).
The DOTr said the pre-bid conference for the NAIA modernization contract is set on September 22 — the first of several stages in the bidding process. Meanwhile, bids for the project will be accepted until December 27. Thus, any contract awarding will happen in early 2024.
“With the right private sector partner, we can unlock NAIA’s full potential, making it an example of progress and innovation in the heart of the Philippines,” Bautista said during an investment roadshow in Singapore.
The five companies which have secured bid documents for NAIA’s upgrade are San Miguel Corporation, GMR, Manila International Airport Consortium, Spark 888 Management Inc., and Asian Airport Consortium.
The government eyes the rehabilitation of NAIA through a P170.6-billion Public-Private Partnership.
