Six major Philippine corporations have earned coveted spots among the 750 companies featured in TIME’s World’s Best Firms list for 2023.
Ayala Corp. (AC) led by Jaime Augusto Zobel de Ayala and San Miguel Corp. (SMC) spearheaded by Ramon S. Ang were the country’s topnotchers in the esteemed magazine’s inaugural compilation based on employee satisfaction, revenue growth and sustainability.
AC ranked No. 309 with an overall score of 83.66 with SMC close behind at No. 347 with an 83.08 score.
Joining these frontrunners on the global stage are other Filipino firms:
* Jollibee Foods Corp., led by Tony Tan Cak Tiong, ranked No. 421 with a score of 81.94;
* PLDT, under the leadership of Manny V. Pangilinan, claimed the 609th spot with a score of 78.71;
* Metropolitan Bank and Trust Co., a part of the Ty family’s conglomerate, secured the 634th position with a score of 78.12; and
* BDO Unibank of the Sy family rounded out the list at No. 647 with an impressive score of 77.85.
TIME tagged SMC as having the most bullish growth prospect among the Filipino firms while PLDT had the best satisfaction rating and Metrobank had the highest sustainability rating.
To compile this prestigious list, TIME conducted a comprehensive survey, gathering insights from 150,000 participants across 58 countries.
The evaluation encompassed crucial aspects of a company’s reputation, work environment, compensation policies, and commitment to equality.
Companies had to demonstrate commendable revenue growth from 2020 to 2022 to qualify for consideration.
The assessment was further enriched by key performance indicators, with a particular focus on sustainable initiatives, societal contributions, and community engagement.
