Best birthday gift ever: Marcos receives IRR of law condoning agrarian reform beneficiaries’ debts

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. was stoked to receive the implementing rules and regulations (IRR) for Republic Act No. 11953 or the New Agrarian Emancipation Act a day before his birthday.

The law frees over 600,000 farmers of the debt they incurred from the award of agricultural land under the Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program.

“Ako’y nagpapasalamat sa inyong lahat, sa lahat ng kasama natin upang mabuo natin ang IRR ng New Emancipation Law,” Marcos said during the signing ceremony held on the eve of his 66th birthday. “On a personal note, nagpapasalamat ako – ito na yata ang pinakamagandang birthday gift na natanggap ko sa buong buhay ko.”

Marcos is spending his birthday in Singapore, where he will speak at the 10th Asian Conference and watch the F1 Grand Prix.
