Long-time Shell executive Rey Gamboa, 81, passes away

Basic Energy of bilyonaryo Rafael Villavicencio has announced the sad news of the passing of one of its esteemed senior board members.

Reynaldo Gamboa was an independent director at Basic. He peacefully passed away during the evening of August 25.

Gamboa joined Basic in 2021 when Rafael Villavicencio assumed control of the oil company from its founder, the late Oscar de Venecia.

Gamboa served the Shell Group of Companies for more than three decades. During his tenure, he held key positions including the head of corporate affairs and trading within the gas division in London. Furthermore, he was also the governor of Shell’s basketball team in the Philippine Basketball Association.

A Certified Public Accountant by profession, Rey Gamboa was a Summa Cum Laude graduate of San Sebastian College.
