The Social Security System (SSS) has issued notices of violation to eight employers in Makati City due to their alleged failure to fulfill pension fund obligations to 152 employees.
This has led to outstanding debts amounting to P6.64 million in unpaid contributions and associated penalties.
Out of the total amount owed, P4.69 million constitutes unremitted contributions, while an additional P1.95 million represents associated penalties. Failure to remit SSS contributions is considered a criminal offense.
This action aligns with the Run After Contribution Evaders (RACE) campaign, a concerted effort by the SSS to ensure that employers meet their financial responsibilities promptly.
However, the SSS has invoked the Data Privacy Law and refrained from disclosing the identities of these delinquent employers.
Under Republic Act No. 10173, also known as the Data Privacy Law, protecting individual personal information within information and communications systems is paramount.
Among these employers, two are engaged in management consultancy, while the rest are involved in various sectors such as specialized stores, wholesaling, business support services, restaurants, general merchandise, and cleaning services.
The SSS reported a comprehensive loss of P442 billion last year, lower than the P827 billion loss incurred in 2021.
