The Marcos administration has given the green light to three new economic zones, as announced by the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
On July 25, Proclamation Nos. 299, 300, and 303 were released by the Office of the President, approving the establishment of three economic zones in Naga City, Bacolod City, and Dumaguete City.
Proclamation No. 299 designates specific land parcels in Barangay Carolina, Naga City, as Naga City Industrial Park. Meanwhile, Proclamation Nos. 300 and 303 designate buildings in Barangay Mandalangan, Bacolod City, as Lopue’s Mandalangan IT Center and in Barangay Piapi, Dumaguete City, as Marina Town Dumaguete.
Prior to this, in April, the administration also approved two ecozones in Batangas province and Bacolod City, expected to attract approximately P1.641 billion in investments.
Currently, there are six PEZA ecozones pending proclamation by the President, including locations in Parañaque City (IT Center), Pasig City (IT Center), Tanza, Cavite (Manufacturing), Ilocos Sur (Manufacturing), and Sarangani Province (Agro-industrial).
PEZA director-general Tereso Panga expressed the agency’s commitment to establishing at least 30 ecozones annually outside the National Capital Region (NCR) to stimulate countryside development.
