The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) earlier today raided and padlocked one of the biggest flour distributors in the country.
“We did this because we have proven that they are using tax-evading schemes, such as utilizing unregistered invoices and operating unregistered warehouses with the BIR,” BIR Commissioner Romeo Lumagui Jr. said in his Facebook post.
“All of these (were done) in order for them to conceal the true value of their sales and evade the corresponding taxes,” he added.
The BIR was requested by reporters to provide further details on the said operation, however its representative said that the statement is still being finalized.
A report published by the Manila Bulletin however identified the raided warehouse as J. Poon and Son Warehouse located at 93 Sgt. Rivera St. in Quezon City.
