The Filinvest Group of the Gotianun family has proposed to operate water desalination and treatment plants in Cebu City that can supply water to over 300,000 households.
Filinvest officials made the proposal to the Cebu City government in a bid to increase the city’s water supply through desalination.
The water desalination and treatment plants will utilize the abundant seawater off the city.
The proposed project will be undertaken by FDC Water Utilities Inc.
“With the operation of these new water desalination and treatment plants, we aim to provide clean and sustainable water to the people of Cebu,” Filinvest Land president and CEO Tristan Las Marias said.
Johnny Roxas, president and CEO of Filinvest Hitachi Omni Waterworks (FLOW), assured the Cebu City government that the company has the experience and expertise in desalination technology, citing its plants in Lapulapu City whihc have been in operation for over five years.
FLOW is a joint venture between Filinvest Development Corporation and Singapore-based
Hitachi Aqua-Tech Engineering that aims to provide desalination, recycled water, and sewage treatment facilities across the Philippines.
“We are committed to support the development and progress of Cebu City by addressing its water supply challenges,” Roxas said.
