Annette Gozon-Valdes, the daughter of bilyonaryo Felipe Gozon, tried to tap actor Alden Richards as host for the revamped “Eat Bulaga” after the exodus of its long-time hosts, collectively known as the “Dabarkads.”
Richards rejected the offer of GMA Network’s senior vice president.
In a recent press conference, Richards said he remains loyal to the Dabarkads and the comedic trio of Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon.
“Sabi ko, ‘Ms. Annette, ngayon pa lang po, sasabihin ko na po na everything that has happened in the noontime world natin ngayon sa Pilipinas… alam niyo naman po kung saan ako galing,'” the actor said. “With those words, hindi ko na kailangang magpaliwanag.”
Richards said that while he doesn’t want to meddle in the feud between the comedic trio known as TVJ and TAPE Inc., “Eat Bulaga’s” producer, he has to make his side known to his boss.
“Tahimik lang po ako all throughout the issue. Hindi po ako nakisawsaw pero by the time po kasi na natanong ako about yung loyalty ko… siyempre sinabi ko po yung piece ko.”
Richards got his big break in showbiz as part of the on-screen “AlDub” couple with Maine Mendoza when “Eat Bulaga” was still topbilled by TVJ.
