A top lawyer of the Sy family’s banking arm has been elected to the board of a casino resort developer Suntrust Resort Holdings (SUN).
BDO SVP and head of legal and internal audit Abogado Alvin C. Go has been elected as a director of Suntrust.
Go, who also served as lawyer of Philippine National Bank, will fill up a seat in the seven-member board which was left vacant during the Octo 22 stockholders’ meeting.
Suntrust is 51-percent owned Fortune Noble Limited, a subsidiary of SunCity Casino owned by the former Macau junket king Alvin Lao who has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for running an illegal gambling empire. Its 35-percent local partner is Megaworld of ultra bilyonaryo Andrew Tan.
SUN is currently building the $1 billion Westside City Resorts World at the Entertainment City in Paranaque which is scheduled to open next year.
