Former Senate President Tito Sotto has affirmed the speculation that the law firm of GMA chairman and CEO Felipe Gozon is lawyering for Romy Jalosjos, the owner of TAPE and producer of “Eat Bulaga.”
“It’s the same report we got,” said Sotto in response to the denial made by Gozon’s daughter that the Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & LucilaLaw Offices was the legal counsel of Jalosjos.
According to Sotto, a member of the TAPE staff was approached by an individual claiming to be a representative of “Attorney Belo” a few months ago. Upon investigation, the staff member discovered that Belo was a partner in Gozon’s law firm.
The supposed representative of Belo requested documents from the TAPE staff, allegedly acting on instructions from Jalosjos.
In a Facebook post addressed to Bilyonaryo.com, GMA Network senior vice president Annette Gozon said: “When you include details that are FACTUALLY UNTRUE, parang may bad faith na yon eh. To correct this article Belo Gozon law firm is NOT the law firm of Jalosjos/Tape.”
Bilyonaryo.com has corrected the article and apologized to the Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila Law Offices.
Sotto and his co-hosts, Vic Sotto and Joey de Leon, led the mass resignation of talent and creative staff of “Eat Bulaga” from TAPE last month.
Sotto’s group recently signed a co-production deal with Mediaquest Holdings of bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan to air “Eat Bulaga” on TV5 starting next month.
