Cebu Pacific has pinned the blame for its numerous flight cancellations on factors beyond its control.
During the joint Senate hearing Wednesday (June 21) on the complaints against the Gokongwei-owned budget carrier, Cebu Pacific president and chief commercial officer Alexander Lao said “environmental” and supply chain issues were behind the disruption in flight schedules.
He said the aviation sector is grappling with limited aircraft after 120 Pratt and Whitney-powered Airbus planes were grounded due to issues about the engine.
Other issues leading to flight cancellations include severe weather conditions, substandard or small runways, and even bird strikes.
Netizens, including Social Welfare Secretary Rex Gatchalian, found Cebu Pacific’s explanation wanting.
“Because my job takes me to all these places I have my own share of horror stories with Cebu Pacific. Sa tone ng Cebu Pacific parang lahat na may kasalanan sila lang ang wala,” he said.
Listening to the senate hearing on airline complaints…bec my job takes me to all these places I have my own share of horror stories with Cebu Pacific.
…sa tone ng Cebu Pacific parang lahat na may kasalanan sila lang ang wala.
