NLEX Corp. broke ground on the Candaba 3rd Viaduct, a move aimed at bolstering motorist safety and mobility.
Valued at an estimated P7.89 billion, this project involves the construction of a new five-kilometer bridge between Pampanga and Bulacan. Slated for completion in November 2024, the Candaba 3rd Viaduct will augment the existing two viaducts, enhancing the road capacity and paving the way for improved traffic flow.
Once operational, the viaduct will offer three lanes in each direction, equipped with spacious inner and outer shoulders, ensuring enhanced safety and convenience for motorists.
J. Luigi L. Bautista, president of NLEX Corp., emphasized that upon completion, the new bridge will be designated for Class 3 vehicles or large trucks, effectively relieving the old structures of heavy loads.
Bautista cited previous studies that underscored the necessity of constructing the third viaduct, citing the aging infrastructure’s reduced capacity. Simultaneously, he reassured the motoring public that the ongoing construction works would minimize disruptions to the existing viaduct’s operations and traffic flow. Meticulous oversight by competent engineers and management teams will ensure efficiency and safety throughout the construction phase.
