It’s the battle of the noontime shows on Twitter as both Eat Bulaga and It’s Showtime landed in the Philippines’ top trending topics on the platform.
It seems that the major shakeup in the noontime lineup has psyched supporters of ABS-CBN’s It’s Showtime and long-running Eat Bulaga to make their voices heard on social media. Keywords and hashtags related to the two variety shows joined the top trending topics on Twitter.
Upon searching the keyword Eat Bulaga, it is noticeable that fans of the show, particularly Maine Mendoza were debunking the claim of TVJ that the Jalosjos siblings wanted her out of the show. Rather, according to the tweets, Maine, along with Wally Bayola and Jose Manalo were offered to be the main hosts of the new Eat Bulaga.
It was a good plan to retain WALLY, JOSE MANALO & MAINE MENDOZA. That was really the plan. NAINGGIT LANG SINA TITO, VIC SOTTO, & JOEY DE LEON. So they pressured the rest to join them. But JALOSJOS is the producer, MAY PREROGATIVE sila to choose the hosts they want 4 EAT BULAGA. pic.twitter.com/kguQXaFKmE

Interestingly enough, these tweets came at the same time as fans of the ‘legit Dabarkads’ were also tweeting to support the first Mediacon of the EB gang in their new home at TV5.

It can be recalled that following the announcement of Tito, Vic, and Joey that they were leaving TAPE Inc., the rest of EB’s hosts also tendered their mass resignation to join the trio.
Meanwhile, It’s Showtime which holds TV5’s noontime slot until the end of the month, also trended with the keywords Madlang Pipol when GTV, a subsidiary of GMA 7 teased that the show will soon find its home with them.

This was seemingly confirmed by Vice Ganda’s repost of the same material on his verified Facebook page.
GMA7 is still airing TAPE’s Eat Bulaga with new hosts as the network’s blocktime agreement with the production firm has yet to expire.
