The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is in the process of evaluating the ancillary services procurement agreements (ASPA) entered into by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
This undertaking aims to safeguard the provision of reliable electricity to consumers throughout the country.
In accordance with the competitive selection process (CSP) mandated by the Department of Energy, the ERC is diligently examining the majority of NGCP’s 36 ASPAs for approval as of June 19.
Earlier this year, NGCP issued notices of award for the 36 ASPAs, which attracted bids from prominent power players including Aboitiz Power Corp., Ayala Corp., First Gen Corp., and San Miguel Corp.
Among the 36 ASPAs, 14 applications have already been submitted to the ERC and are presently undergoing scheduling for hearings.
Concurrently, the ERC is finalizing the pre-filing review of the remaining six ASPA applications, which will subsequently undergo publication and payment of filing fees before formal submission and docketing for hearings by the ERC.
