The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) is reviewing the 36 contracts awarded by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to provide standby emergency power supply to the national grid.
The ERC said it is processing the approval of a majority of the 36 Ancillary Services Procurement Agreements (APSAs) of the NGCP, which were secured through competitive bidding months after the regulator penalized the power transmission operator for not securing backup power.
The ERC said 15 applications are scheduled for hearing, while 16 applications are awaiting payment from the NGCP.
“The ERC is committed to facilitate the approval of the ASPAs to ensure that consumers continue to have access to reliable electricity,” it added.
