Smart Communications, the mobile arm of the PLDT Group, has reported 46.9 million registered users as of June 13, constituting 71 percent of its total subscriber base.
Alfredo S. Panlilio, president and CEO of Smart, attributed this success to the company’s collaborations with the government in formulating the Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of the landmark SIM Registration Act, as well as its focus on delivering an exceptional customer experience through its SIM registration platform.
Panlilio emphasized the importance of ensuring a seamless SIM registration process for Smart’s customers.
“We made sure that Smart’s SIM registration customer experience would be seamless. It was important for us to understand the customer journey and make it as convenient as possible for our customers,” he said.
To further facilitate the registration process, Smart actively partnered with national agencies and local government units to establish thousands of assisted SIM registration booths across the country, particularly in remote areas, to cater to seniors, persons with disabilities, and those still using non-data phones.
In addition to these efforts, Panlilio highlighted Smart’s highly successful “Mag-SIM Reg Para Hindi SIM Dead” campaign, which played a pivotal role in encouraging Smart and TNT subscribers to register their SIMs.
Despite the recent announcement of the SIM Registration Act’s deadline extension, Smart remains committed to urging subscribers to register their SIMs before July 25, 2023.
