Leading mobile wallet GCash plans to extend its presence to the Middle East this year, targeting the growing overseas Filipino market.
Oscar Enrico Reyes Jr., CEO of G-Xchange Inc., revealed that the company recently filed an application with the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) to expand operations in the Middle East.
Once the BSP grants approval, GCash will be ready to launch its services in the region.
The move comes as GCash has already received clearance from the BSP to operate its e-wallet overseas using international SIM cards in countries such as Japan, Australia, and Italy, with a full launch expected later in the year.
GCash has also been strengthening its global presence through partnerships, including its collaboration with global payments platform Alipay+.
In addition to its overseas capabilities, GCash users can now utilize the service to make payments at select merchants in countries like Japan, South Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Qatar, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, and Italy.
With a range of accessible financial products and services, including money transfers, bill payments, and innovative features like GSave, GInsure, and GInvest, GCash aims to empower users in achieving their financial goals.
