Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan is harnessing one of his trusted lieutenants as his new right hand man in Meralco.
A Babbler said Ronnie Aperocho, Meralco senior vice president, is reportedly getting a promotion from Pangilinan as the utility firm’s first chief operating officer who will handle the daily grind of the business.
Pangilinan recently took over as Meralco president and CEO on top of his role as chairman of Meralco following the retirement of Ray Espinosa. Babbler said getting Aperocho as COO would enable him to keep a close tab on Meralco as well as other businesses, specifically PLDT and Metro Pacific.
The 54-year old Aperocho has been head of Meralco’s networks over the last six years.
The Electrical Engineering graduate of Mindanao State University (he topped the 1991 board exams) holds holds an MBA from J.L. Kellogg School of Management of Northwestern University/The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
He is also the president and CEO of Meralco Energy, Inc., MRAIL, Inc. and Meralco Industrial Engineering Services Corporation (Miescor), and chairman of Miescor Logistics and Miescor Builders Inc. He is also on the board of Clark Electric Distribution, MGen Renewable Energy, Miescor Infrastructure Development, Radius Telecoms, and MSpectrum.
