GCash partners with Alipay+ for cashless payments in Europe

Paying for goods in Europe is now easy as scanning QR codes via GCash.

The mobile wallet owned by the bilyonaryo Zobel de Ayala clan announced a partnership with Chinese billionaire Jack Ma’s Alipay+ service, which allows the GCash app to accept Euro-denominated payments.

Transactions will be converted to Philippine peso in real time with no service fee, GCash said in a statement.

Among the merchants covered by the GCash-Alipay+ partnership are:
– United Kingdom: Harrods, Liberty London, and Harvey Nichols
– France: Printemps
– Germany: Müller and dm-drogerie markt
– Italy: itTaxi and IVS Group

At the counter, a GCash user must open the app, select pay via QR, scan the code, and click pay for the transaction to proceed.
