The Department of Transportation (DOTr) has announced a bidding process for the procurement of motorcycle and car plates, aiming to address the anticipated shortage by next month.
DOTR is inviting bidders to supply a range of materials, which include blank metal plates, RFID stickers, and thermal transfer ribbon.
The bidding will adhere to open competitive procedures, following the regulations set by Republic Act No. 9184
Interested bidders can acquire the bidding documents from June 6 to June 26, 2023, for a fee of P75,000.
The pre-bid conference will be held on June 14, with the bids scheduled to open on June 26 at 10:30 am.
The DOTr reserves the right to reject bids or declare a failure of bidding if necessary.
This procurement initiative comes in response to warnings from the Land Transportation Office (LTO) about a potential shortage in license plates by June or July.
The LTO has already faced a shortage of plastic driver’s license cards, leading to extensions and the introduction of digital driver’s licenses in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
