The Bureau of Customs (BOC) recently convened with the European Union-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and the European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) to bolster trade and investment opportunities between the Philippines and European businesses.
The meeting, which took place on May 23, aimed to lend support to the resumption of Free Trade Agreement negotiations between the Philippines and the European Union, while concurrently fostering stronger economic ties between the two regions.
During the gathering, the BOC highlighted the pivotal role of private sector involvement in advancing its modernization program. Of particular significance was the BOC’s emphasis on its one-stop-shop solution, which streamlines the clearance process for receiving donations during times of calamity.
In addition, the BOC reiterated its unwavering commitment to transitioning to a paperless transaction system, underscoring the manifold benefits of electronic exchanges for internal operations.
BOC Commissioner Bienvenido Y. Rubio underscored the BOC’s dedication to fostering a favorable business environment, facilitating trade, and promoting shared prosperity between the Philippines and their European counterparts.
Through this collaborative partnership with the EU-ABC and ECCP, the BOC seeks to position the Philippines as a premier destination for European businesses, paving the way for new economic opportunities in both regions.
