International Container Terminal Services Inc. (ICTSI) has partnered with Intelligent E-Processes Technologies Corp. (IETC), a subsidiary of San Miguel Corporation responsible for managing Autosweep RFID, to enhance the gate process for trucks at Manila International Container Terminal (MICT).
By leveraging RFID technology, the collaboration aims to expedite gate access and streamline operations at the Port of Manila.
Through the collaboration, RFID scanners installed at the terminal gates will be able to read Autosweep tags and match them with the trucks’ plate numbers.
This innovative approach will overcome challenges faced by MICT’s automated gate systems, which have experienced limited success with license plate recognition cameras due to factors such as deteriorated plates or the use of laminated paper instead of proper plates to display MV file numbers on some trucks.
To facilitate the adoption of Autosweep RFID tags, IETC will deploy personnel at MICT throughout May to offer free tag installation for trucks conducting transactions at the terminal.
This hassle-free enrollment process also grants customers immediate access to RFID lanes on SMC-operated toll roads, including the South Luzon Expressway, Skyway, NAIA Expressway, Southern Tagalog Arterial Road Tollway, and Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway, facilitating faster travel times.
