Tito, Vic & Joey – the heart and soul of “Eat Bulaga” – have found another reason to pack their bags and leave the prime noontime block of media giant GMA Network.
A Babbler said TVJ are reportedly annoyed at bilyonaryo Felipe L. Gozon, GMA chairman and CEO, for aligning himself with convicted child rapist Romy Jalosjos, the majority owner of TAPE, the production company behind “Eat Bulaga” in their messy, months-long dispute over creative control of the long-running noontime show.
Babbler cited the glaring disparity between GMA’s treatment of the warring sides.
GMA management has gone above and beyond to provide Jalosjos with the perfect platform to voice his side of the Eat Bulaga controversy. TAPE’s CFO, Bullet Jalojos (Jalosjos’ son), was given the spotlight on “Fast Talk,” one of GMA’s highest-rated shows, where he was interviewed by the renowned showbiz host, Boy Abunda.
In contrast, former Senate President Tito Sotto had to express his dismay on Facebook over GMA’s apparent lack of interest in airing his interview with a GMA reporter. Only snippets of Tito’s views and reaction to the Bullet interview were aired on GMA News, while his full and unfiltered interview could only be found on the reporter’s YouTube vlog.
“TVJ knows Gozon is a micromanager and giving more airtime to Bullet compared to Tito is definitely no accident,” Babbler said.
To make matters worse, Babbler said the TVJ camp also believes Gozon, a senior partner of the law firm of Belo Gozon Elma Parel Asuncion & Lucila, has been giving advice to Jalosjos in their conflict.
“TVJ feels bad by Gozon’s decision to favor Jalosjos, as management should ideally remain neutral in what are essentially internal matters. GMA knows it has a lot to lose if the trio decides to abandon Eat Bulaga which is part of its core programming. Not only will GMA have a big hole to fill in the noontime slot, but one of its rival TV networks will inadvertently get a boost by getting TVJ,” Babbler said.
