TAPE Inc., the production family of former lawmaker Romeo Jalosjos has finally settled the P30-million worth of talent fees it owes to Vic Sotto.
The veteran comedian credited the media for bringing closure to the issue, which apparently lasted several years.
“Salamat at na-media at nabayaran,” he told reporters on Monday, May 8.
The “Eat Bulaga” host earlier said he wasn’t expecting to get that money.
“‘Yung TVJ sanay sa gano’n e. We started nang halos wala kaming sine-sweldo,” he said. “Sabi ko nga nung isang araw, hindi naman pera-pera ang usapan. Mas mahalaga ang prinsipyo sa pera.”
Sotto’s brother and fellow noontime show host, former Senate President Tito Sotto, earlier said they are in talks to air “Eat Bulaga” on a different broadcast channel under an agreement bilyonaryo Bacolod Mayor Albee Benitez.
TAPE Inc. has produced the noontime show for over four decades. However, uncertainty surrounds its future due to the Jalosjos family’s alleged meddling.
