Julian Mengual takes over as CEO of MediCard Philippines

AIA Philippines, a subsidiary of AIA Group, has announced the appointment of Julian Mengual as the new CEO of MediCard Philippines, a leading health maintenance organization (HMO) in the country.

Mengual, who previously served as Deputy CEO of MediCard since March 2023, will succeed Dr. Nicky Montoya in leading the company’s efforts to provide quality healthcare services to over 920,000 members across corporate and individual plans.

The appointment comes after MediCard was fully acquired by AIA Group earlier this year. With 25 years of extensive knowledge and experience in the healthcare and financial industries, Mengual is well-equipped to take on this new leadership role.

AIA Philippines CEO Kelvin Ang expressed gratitude for the contributions of Montoya, whose father established MediCard in 1987, and confidence in the capable hands of Mengual to continue building on Montoya’s legacy.

Prior to joining MediCard, Mengual served in executive strategic roles in Asia at Cigna, a multinational healthcare and insurance company.
