Sid Consunji taps veteran bankeros Bobbit Panlilio, Paquito Dizon to Semirara Mining board

Bilyonaryo Sid Consunji has beefed up the board of Semirara Mining and Power Corp. (SCC) with the addition of two veteran investment bankers.

Former JP Morgan Philippines country chief Roberto “Bobbit” Panlilio and former Rizal Commercial Banking Corp. president and CEO Francisco “Paquito” Dizon were elected as independent directors of SCC on May 2.

They replaced Honorio O. Reyes-Lao and Rogelio M. Murga

Panlilio – who used to be with Citibank, PCI Bank – is a protege of the late Central Bank chief Paeng Buenaventura whose brother, Cesar, is a long-time director of SCC.

Dizon is currently the president and CEO of Sun Savings Bank. He also runs his own investment fund Project Quest and is chairman of BPO International and Phoenix One Knowledge Solutions.

He has 48 years in banking including stints as chairman of Philippine National Bank and president and CEO of Asian Bank.

He founded AB Capital and Investment which was recently taken over by bilyonaryo Antonio Jose Periquet Jr. who also sits on the board of SCC.

Inflation eases to 6.1% in May

The country’s inflation rate eased to 6.1 percent in May, the lowest year-on-year figure recorded since July 2022, according to a report released by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA).
