The Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3 suffered from another power outage Monday (May 1), causing inconvenience to several passengers.
In a statement, the Department of Energy said the brownout was caused by an internal system issue rather than a power supply problem.
“No problem from Meralco supply. Problem is internal to NAIA T3,” Energy Assistant Secretary Mario Marasigan said Monday.
UPDATE: In a statement, DOE assistant secretary Mario Marasigan said that the power problem did not come from Meralco’s side. The DOE said 85% of NAIA’s power has been restored, expected to be completed this morning. | via @monroyandoyan pic.twitter.com/eoj0UwsRia

Netizens stuck at the airport have reported that the power outage started at 2 a.m. but staff from NAIA and the affected airlines were said to be slow to respond.
The brownout appeared to be a repeat of the January 1 NAIA fiasco that shutdown the country’s airspace, which happened under Jaime Bautista’s watch as Transportation Secretary.
