BIR’s Lumagui assures public: No data breach in agency

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has refuted claims of a data breach within its agency after reports of personal records belonging to government employees and applicants being leaked.

In a statement, BIR Commissioner Romeo D. Lumagui Jr., assured the public that no such breach occurred within the tax agency.

“The BIR has been exerting efforts to protect and maintain the security of its data. The Bureau has initiated response protocols to keep its database protected,” Lumagui said.

“We are now in close coordination with the authorities and other government agencies to assist in mitigating the reported breach,” he added.
