BOC Collection District XII, located in the Port of Parang, has taken part in the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA) Economic Corridors Study, which aims to analyze and evaluate the economic potential of Region XII and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.
The study, conducted by the Asian Development Bank and the Mindanao Development Authority, seeks to identify the advantages of the area in terms of cross-border trade, investments, and tourism.
During the dialogue, discussions centered around the current development strategies of the existing BIMP-EAGA economic corridors, such as the West Borneo Economic Corridor, Greater Sulu Sulawesi Economic Corridor, and East Borneo Economic Corridor.
The agency emphasized that BOC Collection District XII will continue its efforts to facilitate legitimate import-export activity and attract investments as part of the priority projects to boost the region’s economic growth.
Customs Commissioner Bienvenido Rubio expressed support for the initiative, stating, “We recognize the importance of the BIMP-EAGA Economic Corridors Study in identifying opportunities and addressing challenges in cross-border trade, tourism, and investment.
