The Department of Budget and Management (DBM) has authorized the release of P1.18 billion to the National Food Authority to provide a one-time rice subsidy to eligible employees and workers of national government agencies.
DBM Secretary Amenah Pangandaman has given the nod for the issuance of the Special Allotment Release Order and corresponding notice of cash allocation pursuant to Administrative Order No. 2, which mandates the uniform grant of 25 kilograms of rice to qualified government workers and employees.
Over 1.89 million government workers, including job order and contract of service personnel still serving or engaged by government agencies as of November 30, 2022, are set to receive the rice subsidy.
Pangandaman emphasized that the initiative aims to promote the welfare of government workers and simultaneously support the rice farmers’ production.
“We shall ensure the welfare of our government workers by giving them assistance for their household needs and, at the same time, boosting the production of our rice farmers,” Pangandaman said.
