MPT South, the infrastructure arm of Metro Pacific Tollways, said its Cavite-Tagaytay-Batangas Expressway project, worth P 25.24 billion is still on track despite a similar project proposed by competitor San Miguel Corp.
According to MPT South general manager and president Raul Ignacio, ongoing discussions with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) are underway to finalize the proposal before it is submitted to the National Economic and Development Authority.
Although the DPWH has given its support to both projects, MPT South is still in talks with the government agency to ensure the success of the CTBEX project, which will connect Cavite and Batangas and will also include a spur road to Tagaytay City, with additional spur road to Tuy, Batangas.
The project, expected to decongest approximately 23,000 vehicles daily, is set to start at the Silang East Interchange of the Cavite-Laguna Expressway, which is now open to the public.
MPT South’s existing expressways and those currently under construction total 240.6 kilometers with a total investment of $3.06 billion.
