Bilyonaryo Manny V. Pangilinan-led NLEX Corp. has officially opened the first five-kilometer elevated expressway of the P23 billion NLEX Connector, which is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and improve mobility in Metro Manila.
The infrastructure project is anticipated to boost economic development, logistics, and communities, and ease traffic along busy roads such as Rizal Avenue, Abad Santos Avenue, Lacson Avenue, and España Boulevard.
The NLEX Connector will cater to vehicles of all sizes, including cars, SUVs, buses, trucks, and motorcycles with displacement 400cc and above.
The second section of the expressway, spanning from España to Sta. Mesa, is currently 42 percent complete.
Once fully operational, the NLEX Connector will span a total of eight kilometers from Caloocan to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila.
Its goal is to accommodate approximately 35,000 vehicles per day, thereby enhancing accessibility to Manila Ports and airports like NAIA and Clark.
