Allies of the son of ultra bilyonaryo Lucio Tan have swept the elections of the country’s most influential business organizations.
Lamoiyan-Hapee president and CEO Cecilio Pedro won as the new president of the Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Inc. (FFCCCII).
To preserve unity: Mary Ng backs out of FFCCCII leadership race, gives way to Hapee’s Cecilio Pedro
Victor Lim, the brother-in-law of former FFCCCII president Henry Lim Bon Liong, was elected executive vice president of the group in place of LT Group director Mary G. Ng, who aborted her plan to run for president this year to preserve unity in the Federation.
Both Pedro and Lim are key allies of LT Group president and COO Michael “Mike” G. Tan who was re-elected as VP.
The other VPs elected on the last day of FFCCCII’s convention on March 26 are William Gosiaco, David Chua, Delfin Letran, George Chiu, William Castro, Jeffrey Ng, Tai Lian, Joey Go, Anthony Chan, Frank Co, Antonio Tan, Antonio Cosing, Edwin Fabro, and Reynold Siy. Nelson Guevarra was voted treasurer.
“The winning group has basically unified and presented a united slate in the election, it became very smooth,” said an officer from the Federation.
“It’s a changing of the guard. The next generation of leaders prefer to move forward with programs and platforms rather than politicking,” the source added.
